Rosewood Investment, advised by InvAscent, has completed a partial exit from Symbiotec Pharmalab Limited through pre-IPO share sales and the company’s initial public offering. The listing marks an important milestone in a partnership that began with an investment of INR 3,435 million in December 2018. The Fund continues to hold a meaningful stake in Symbiotec and participate in its next phase of growth.
Headquartered in Indore and led by Founder and Managing Director Anil Satwani, Symbiotec develops and manufactures corticosteroid and steroid-hormone active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Its portfolio spans more than 60 APIs, serving over 200 customers across more than 40 countries, including major generic and specialty pharmaceutical companies in the United States, Europe and Asia.
During Fund’s investment period, Symbiotec has broadened its capabilities beyond its established steroid and hormone API business to build a platform spanning APIs, contract development and manufacturing services (CDMO), and complex injectables. Investments in large-scale fermentation capacity have expanded the company’s manufacturing capabilities and created opportunities to serve customers seeking development and manufacturing partners for complex fermentation-based products.
The Company continues to deepen its presence in regulated markets, expand customer relationships and develop higher-value products.
The IPO marks a significant step in Symbiotec’s evolution and provides a foundation for its next phase of growth. For InvAscent, the partial exit reflects its approach of partnering with entrepreneurs over the long term to build differentiated life sciences businesses with global capabilities.
